Accessibility statement for Application Form Submission Service

This website is run by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  1. Some decorative images have detailed Alt text. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 Text Alternatives.
  2. The webpage does not work well without styles and the Edit Attachment pop-up is difficult to navigate using a screenreader. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence.
  3. Red asterisk in Billing Details "(Fields marked as * are mandatory)" text is below minimum contrast. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum).
  4. Form Selection and Fee Options are not fully displayed on small screens. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.10 Reflow.
  5. Text spacing isn't applied to items in dropdown lists. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.12 Text spacing.
  6. Some uneditable fields are highlighted as interactable elements. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.1.1 Keyboard.
  7. Skip link is not present on the confirmation page. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks.
  8. Focus order on Submission Confirmation page isn't logical. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.3 Focus order.
  9. Attachment Upload "Choose file" button has incorrect aria-label applied. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.6 Headings and labels.
  10. There are no instructions for uploading attachments. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 3.3.2 Labels or instructions.
  11. Some pages contain HTML parsing errors. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.1 Parsing.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Following the audit conducted in November 2023, the Civil Aviation Authority are working to fix content which fails to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. The next release is currently planned for January 2024.
